This piece is part of a series of collage works with a limited color palette. The process is with crumpled parchment paper or handmade paper. Choosing among the collage pieces I put together numerous combinations before finishing.
In this artwork I wanted to experiment with a very limited palette and in fact, no painting at all. It's just purely paper. Much of the work is recycled paper, paper scraps, my own paper, etc. I like the idea of raw materials, layering, and textures. Sometimes I do these abstract experimental works just to get away from realism or just to do something different. It allows some freedom to experiment.
This work has a thickness to it, so that should be taken into consideration when matting and framing so it doesn't touch the glazing. It can be float matted in a box frame or matted with spacers between it and any backing the work is mounted on.
