How to Change a Lightbulb

drawing of lightbulbs on a sign

In this drawing I'm experimenting with Conté and toned paper to see what can be achieved with it and studying light effects through glass in the process. These old signs become caked with peeling paint as they are updated periodically and then subsequently ignored to bake in the sun. I find that the Conté is as powdery and pastel and charcoal, so it has plenty of fixatif to keep it's color from smudging.
