There is a tiny motel on Grand River Ave. in Novi, Michigan that has this wonderful working sign, all still in business. It's like collecting something when I find a new item to add to it. Multiple reference images and some editing, color considerations, and composition adjustments this is the first of hopefully a few paintings of the Fair Lane Motel signage. Someday, I'm going to actually stay there. I think there are only about eight or ten rooms in all but with a huge front lawn to relax under some tall pine trees.
I think I'm starting to enjoy doing acrylic paintings. I was trying to film time-lapse and decided that maybe I'll only time-lapse record videos of the watercolor paintings. I'm literally in the way of the camera and cannot get a good angle of it.
Acrylic on canvas, this one is a compact size piece that I've painted a wrap around, so it can go unframed.
